Award-winning film, television and theatre star Art Malik (True Lies, The Jewel in the Crown, A Passage to India) makes his Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut alongside his daughter Keira Malik, in the World Premiere of critically acclaimed playwright Hywel John’s eagerly awaited second play. A powerful new drama about one Middle-Eastern immigrant's struggle raising his English-born daughter. Reunited under the most unfortunate of circumstances after many years apart, Rose and her father try to piece together the fragmented memories of their troubled relationship. Her attempts to uncover the secrets of her father's past in order to find out who she is and where she is from meet only resistance from a man reluctant to reveal himself and fixated on bringing up his beloved daughter the 'English' way. 'Rose' is a heartbreaking study of Englishness, heritage, grief, family and how the ghosts of the past can poison the present. |
